The second ranked Guerin Catholic Baseball team headed to Lafayette over the weekend to participate in the annual Catholic Classic hosted by Lafayette Central Catholic. The Golden Eagles, now 17-2-1 on the season, beat South Bend St. Joseph in the first game, led by an outstanding pitching performance by Tate Troxell (6.2 IP, 2 hits, 1 ER, 12 Ks) and a clutch, 2 out, 3 run HR by senior Ian Taylor in the top of the 7th to win 4-1. Troxell's performance earned him MVP honors of the tournament. In the nightcap, the Golden Eagles took on the host Knights in a battle of Diocesan foes. Senior Harrison Haq struck out 10 over 4 innings of work while Ian Taylor hit his 2nd home run of the day (and 9th of the season) as the Golden Eagles won going away 12-1. In addition to a great day of baseball, Head Coach Dave Schrage also won his 900th game while coaching in college ranks before coming to Guerin Catholic in the 2025. Congrats to Coach Schrage on an incredible accomplishment! Game 1: Guerin Catholic 4 SB St. Joseph 1 Game 2: Guerin Catholic 12 Central Catholic 1
